| The GMI
Active-8 is an easy-to-use, detection system with up to 8 zone-able
inputs. These inputs can monitor any combination of fire, gas,
atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity. Designed
specifically for the smaller facility, the Active-8 is configurable
for any combination of flammable gas, toxic gas, fire or other
detection. The Active-8 can be set-up for specific user requirements
and linked to the alarms and other systems within the facility.
Flammable gases include Methane,
Butane, Pentane, Propane and Hydrogen, the toxic gases Carbon
Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide, Sulphur Dioxide as well as Oxygen. Up
to 30 fire and smoke detectors can be monitored per zone. |

|
| The Active-8 communicates with the user
via a digital L.C.D. display and L.E.D. status indicators which show
the status of each individual zone as well as the overall system.
Alarm levels are programme to give early warning of danger.
|
In normal operation, the Active-8 continually displays the
status of the different zones as well as the entire system. Using
four panel-mounted switches the user can also check the various
gas levels at each zone and the individual gas alarm levels. The
operation of the L.E.D. status indicators can also be checked. If
any alarms have activated - whether fire, gas or a system fault -
these are clearly indicated on the display. The alarms are
normally both audible and visual.
If an alarm has activated, the Active-8 panel can be opened
by a key holder who can reset the system when they are sure that
there is no gas or fire hazard. There is a mute facility for gas
alarms. The L.C.D display will show the location of the alarm and
any fault messages.
Calibration, installation and maintenance are also very
user-friendly. They are performed using the
"Active-8-or", a hand-held communication adapter that
allows one person to set-up access is possible ensuring that there
is no tampering with the system.
The Active-8 is designed to integrate into the customer
system. Features include up to 16 programmable relay outputs for
customised alarm zoning and volt-free outputs to drive external
devices from both faults and alarm levels. There is an RS485
output and an option of an internal battery back-up. The main
panel itself is designed to fit into the customer environment,
i.e. panel, flush or surface mounted, and can be powered by a 240v
AC, 110v AC or 24 DC power source.
In control rooms, boiler rooms, sewage works, landfill sites,
storage and processing facilities, and intelligent building
systems the Active-8 is the easy-to-use gas and fire system that
can be customised specifically to the user's requirement.
